Trimmin' my Fake Tree

When I was a kid we always had an artificial tree and then we would visit my aunt in Jersey who had the real thing and there was always something a little better different about her home at Christmas time. When I left home I decided I'm going to always have a real tree! I hit a roadblock when my building informed me that it would violate my lease to bring in a live tree (yea, crash course in reading ALL the fine prints in a lease ::rolling eyes::) but then I met the Wasband and he bought us a tree in his apartment and it's been our tradition ever since.

I love the smell and the overall feel it gives the house at Christmas time. It feels Christmasy (yea I'm coining it)! Well last year was Chunks's 1st Christmas that he would actually appreciate so we got a real tree AND garland, it smelled divine! Then Christmas passed, New Years was over and it was time to take the tree out and OMG the branches!!

Pine leaves everywhere all the way through the house and out the door! We were sweeping long after the tree was taken away, a mess! So this year I don't think I'm going that route again and will dig up our artificial tree, which was supposed to go up on Friday :-(, and maybe I'll get the garland for the smell I love but I can't with the clean up this year.

What goes up in your house: Real or Artificial? Do you get special ornaments each year or do you have a loved collection?

Fake, all the way for me, lol. I just don't want to be bothered with the cleanup afterward. Plus, I'm extremely paranoid about it catching in fire, so yeah...Fake over here!

We purchased a nice, fake one a couple of years ago! I always said I would get a real one, too but I'm afraid the dogs will drink the water, and somehow the house will burn down! *Dramatic, I know!* We do buy special ornaments every year:)

I think I will be doing a FAKE tree! But I have to buy a new one cuz my old one is so skinny and looks like a branch in the house.

My grandparents had a real tree, but I'm going FAKE! I can't even think about a real tree! Keeping it watered, cleaning it up afterwards?! I dont have time anymore! I like just boxing it up after the holidays are over and moving on!

My uncle had a fake tree and I loved it. They decorated it, it was in the corner and it truly brought warmth to the room as it sat on the table.

I grew up with a fake trees too... It may be a cribbean thing bc they don't have pine trees in the caribbean. But one year, after we moved to America we had a real tree and it was so beautiful that I now love real trees. Now that I am married, I think we will always have a real tree. My husband loves them so much that he will be willing to clean up the mess.

Right now we do a fake tree because we don't have room for a big real tree. However, it's been decided that once we buy a house we're switching to real trees. We used to do them when I was kid and loved the smell and checking the water level.

I think that after this year, we will have to look into getting a new set of ornaments because the paint is already coming off the Christmas balls we've had for six years now. Hope you and Chunks have fun putting up the tree and making new memories this holiday season.

I've never had a real tree but I bet it smells wonderful. Aside from my fake tree, I have a wreath on my front door and stockings with my kids names on them hanging on the fireplace. I also have a miniature (4 ft) christmas tree in my house for my little one. He likes to pull things down.
