Spending time with friends and family can lead to fun and memorable moments, but also some very messy ones.
Back when we were hit by Hurricane Katrina everyone in NYC was boarding up their homes and moving inward for fear of a big wipe out. One of my good friends, Lisa who is also a newly separated mom, lives out in Staten Island. Because she lived so close to the water and they were talking about closing off the brdges, I suggested she pack up her little guy, who's a few months older than Chunks and stay with me until the storm passed.
We bought movies and games, crayons and coloring books to keep the boys busy while we caught up on girl talk and hung out over the weekend. Everything was going great and after Car 2 it was time to head into the kitchen to make lunch. Mac and Cheese with hot dogs seemed like a winner but now the boys were too quiet. You know that means trouble!
I walk into the room to find that the guys had gotten bored with coloring in their coloring books and took their art TO MY WALLS and MIRROR!!
The strokes looked like they put their all into the crayons and wanted the blue, red, and black to be DEEP! I tried some cleanser I had in the kitchen but it was just smearing the lighter colors and not doing a THING on the darker strokes. It was a hot mess, but then Lisa found my Clorox wipes in the bathroom and we just gave it a shot, we were going to try anything. At first the wipes seemed to smear the colors too but with a little more elbow grease the darker lines started to come up too!! It took more than a few wipes to erase their scribble masterpieces but it WORKED!
While the mirror needed some glass cleaner help afterwards, the crayon marks came off pretty easy too! The storm passed with not much damage so it was time to get those boys out of the house and away from my walls.
I received information about Clorox’s Bleach It Away campaign and am sharing my messy moment for the chance to win prizes from The SITS Girls.
