Mommy Lifesavers

This truly should've been the 1st installment in this series because it was a lifesaver reference for me from the early days of pregnancy to now.  But Mommy Lifesaver #2 would have to be:

VIA
This is The Bump, the baby guide to The Knot empire. From trying to conceive, through what to expect during each stage of pregnancy, up until little one starts walking and talking. The one thing that made this site such a lifesaver was its community feel. I really felt like I had friends on this site because on each board should you post a concern, question, or need advice on anything (sometimes not baby related) within minutes you had so many answers to choose!

Their boards get you in touch with those at the same stage of parenthood as you and those that are further along. So if you want to know the latest toy, the best teething solution, the best saleshow to handle gripe, or what to know when trying to conceive they have a board for that. My own mother was my biggest stress factor throughout my pregnancy and sometimes I just needed to vent to someone who didn't know me or the situation and there were so many ladies who could relate, offer advice, a shoulder to cry on, and encouragement (some of the stories were so hilarious and out there that I forgot about my own mother craziness).

So whether you're thinking of, are pregnant, just had a little one, or have a toddler running around, check out the site and build an entirely new support system over at The Bump.

Mommy Lifesavers

I am now on the countdown to Chunk's 1st Birthday ::OMG:: and I'm thinking back on everything that helped, that I needed, that he needed, so up until the day I'll post about some of the Mommy-Baby essentials that saved my life.

So for the 1st Installment, my life saver for a summer baby:
THE MAXI DRESS!!!

Chunks was due August 17th which meant that I spent most of the summer hot and fat and in need of something comfortable and cool. Thankfully I didn't really get that big, I just felt like it, so then only thing maternity that was needed were jeans/pants, but you couldn't pay me to put either on at this time. As someone who loves her jeans it was so weird that I LIVED in a dress/skirt. These dresses are so soft, comfortable, and light weight. A friend of mine told me about a sale at Arden B on these dresses that I never really paid much mind to when I was about 6 months along (just when it started to get warm). I tried one in the beautiful blue colour and fell in love. I think I collected over 12 different maxis in some amazing summer colors. The night my water broke this was the first thing I grabbed, right after my flat iron (a whole other story lol) and I wore another one home.
Even in this get-it-together-because-I-can't-go-to-hell kind of heat, these dresses are back to my rescue!

WHAT WAS YOUR PREGNANCY LIFE SAVER???

I'm Versatile!

I've been following Bloggy Moms for a while and decided to finally join myself. There are so many fun moms with lives just as crazy as mine! I "met" the author of Homemakers Helper who has a very intriguing blog. Recently she honored me and 14 others with The Versatile Blogger Award !! THANK YOU!

So the idea behind the versatile blogger is to praise blogger who blog on a variety of subjects that in the end still deal with their main topic. I know SO many bloggers who are talented in this so it shouldn't be hard for me to find 15 bloggers to pass this onto. One of the other rules is to share 7 random facts about myself ::scary:: but here goes

1. I've silently planned out the order of my children lol
2. I LOVE party planning
3. I hardly eat chocolate but when I crave some I'm a pig
4. When I drive a car I fell vulnerable, I'm a truck girl
5. I already know the colour scheme I would use in almost every room of my future home
6. Community service is big to me
7. HGTV is my fav channel (next to the Food Network) lol

Falling in Love w Brooklyn-Brooklyn Flea Market!

A beautiful but HOT Saturday afternoon found us out at the Brooklyn Flea Market. The funny thing was, I grew up in and through Brooklyn and had never been but I've heard so much about it that I decided we just had to get down there. I was determined to stay within budget because Chunk's 1st birthday is coming up and we got some other things to do but I didn't know what I should expect to find. Maybe some cute jewelry or art, who knew?

There were stands and stands of EVERYTHING! Hubby called it "Craigslist in real life". Jewelry, place sets, rugs, shoes (something about athlete's foot won't let me buy shoes at a flea market IMO), art, and comic books. Not many baby/toddler friendly pieces although someone mentioned there are more of a baby selection at the Sunday market. But the gems of market for ME-THE BAGS!!! The clutches, the shoulder bags, the carry ons (that I wanted but just knew I didn't need :-() we amazing. You can definitely tell the difference in quality in the older bags and the ones made today. So with that I went on a hunt for my new "it" bag and ladies and gents, Chunks stretched out of the stroller at this one stand we weren't paying attention to and then I found it! ::church angels sing::

I call her Rem, the cognac colour on the trim reminds me of the cognac Remy Martin (drunk-ish but that's what I think lol). The leather is in it's simplest form, not pulled and stretched so the grain is pronounced and sweet. Originally sold for over $350, I scored Rem for $65!!! OMG!!! The sweet lady who owned the stand KNEW her Dooneys, she had one herself, she even put a penny in it for good luck. So from your mouth the God's ears sweetheart! I love a good find and an even better price tag. I think this may just turn out to be my everyday bag since it can take a little beating.

One more reason to fall back in love with my borough!

Why Did I Start this Blog??

When I decided to start this blog I was so eager to get into the social media wave and along with giving my input, also get information as a new wife, new mother, and recently returned New Yorker. I wanted to chronicle my adventures through life as a wife, mommy, and tell everything that New York has offered me and to be honest I don't even feel it! I have so many drafts that are yet to be posted and then I read through some of my FAV blogs and I just get wrapped up in their posts and forget about updating mine (and then the baby needs me, dinner needs to be made, or I have work to do).

Where do you find motivation?

Most of the bloggers I follow are Fierce and Fab: they're working moms (home or abroad), they maintain a home, they look FAB, and have such exciting stories to tell and I don't think they want to hear about this diaper rash that I've been fighting to get rid of for a week (ped tell me it will go away but seeing Chunks so uncomfortable hurts my heart!) lol. I dunno maybe it's the Blogger Blues which will pass but I'm going to work up the energy or find a new routine to get my voice out to this wonderful blogger world we're actually having a lot of fun here so far and I've learned so much growing with Chunks and Hubby I just need to complete and POST!

Thanks for listening to my rant, I promise you won't have much more of these to deal with :-)
